The Person Behind Scrubs & Steel

Gene Dinh.

BSN, RN · ICU Nurse · Founder & Creator of RX-RC

Nearly four years in the ICU taught me how easy it is to take care of everyone except yourself. This is what I built to change that.

This didn't start as a brand. It started on nightshift.

I've been an ICU nurse for almost four years now, currently at Sutter Health. For most of that time, I worked nights — and like a lot of night nurses, I told myself the exhaustion, the broken sleep, the meals at 3am were just part of the job. You adapt. You push through. That's the culture.

About a year ago, I moved to dayshift. And it wasn't until that shift that I actually felt the difference — how much nightshift had been quietly wearing me down without me fully registering it while I was in it. That contrast is what made it real. Not a single dramatic moment in a patient's room, but the slow recognition of what I'd normalized for years.

There's a phrase in healthcare that gets repeated like a joke: nurses make the worst patients. We're the ones telling everyone else to sleep, eat well, move their body, manage stress — while running ourselves into the ground.

I wanted to actually break that, not just acknowledge it. Scrubs & Steel — and RX-RC specifically — exists because that gap was real, and nobody else was building for it from the inside. Not another influencer fitness brand. Not a plan written by someone who's never worked a 12-hour shift on their feet, on nights, with a body that doesn't run on a normal clock. A system built by someone who lives the same chaos it's designed for.

That's why RX-RC was never built around just one schedule. Whether you're on nights, days, or rotating between both — your Clinical Recovery Score adjusts to where you actually are, not where a generic program assumes you should be.

But your health matters too. Your recovery matters. Your future matters.

RX-RC was created to help clinicians build strength, improve recovery, and maintain their health while navigating the realities of healthcare.

Not through perfection. Through consistency.

Whether you're working days, nights, or somewhere in between — I hope this system helps you become a stronger clinician, a healthier individual, and a better version of yourself.

You spend your career helping others live healthier lives.
